The Gurukul Concept: Transforming Corporate Learning Spaces

Overview
A Big Four global accounting firm partnered with Vestian to design and build a transformative 60,000 sq. ft. Learning Centre in Hyderabad—envisioned as a next-generation hub for corporate education. Vestian proposed a Gurukul-inspired concept that blends India’s cultural heritage with modern learning needs, creating a space that fosters knowledge, collaboration, and personal growth.
Rooted in the ancient Gurukul philosophy, the centre features design elements that encourage connection and well-being. At its core is a grand amphitheatre with a symbolic banyan tree, tiered seating, and informal interaction zones. A serene reception with a brass sun installation, waterfall, and lotus pond, along with sustainable materials and wellness spaces, completes this enriching learning environment.
Challenge
Solution
The project involved highly customised design elements, creating challenges in material procurement and time management. The intricate detailing demanded careful selection, coordination, and movement of specialised materials. Working within strict timelines and aligning multiple stakeholders required meticulous planning and seamless communication. Additionally, ensuring adherence to IGBC standards added another layer of precision and documentation. Together, these factors made the execution of the Gurukul-inspired learning centre a complex undertaking that called for disciplined coordination and technical rigour.
Our team addressed the project’s complexities through early procurement planning, identifying specialised vendors in advance and prioritising long-lead materials. Weekly coordination meetings and a centralised communication system ensured alignment among designers, contractors, and suppliers. Detailed mock-ups were developed to validate intricate custom elements and minimise rework. A dedicated sustainability team managed IGBC requirements through structured checklists, documentation, and on-site audits. Milestone-based scheduling supported agile timeline management, enabling parallel workflows and timely execution. This Learning Centre in Hyderabad is a stellar example of design and thought innovation, seamlessly intertwining modernity with ancient Indian traditions.
