Vestian is looking for an experienced General Manager – EHS to lead the Environment, Health & Safety function across its Design & Build / Corporate Fit-out project portfolio. The role owns EHS strategy, governance, compliance and team leadership across all project sites, ensuring a strong, proactive safety culture and regulatory compliance throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive the EHS strategy, policies and governance framework across all project sites (fit-out, interior, construction) pan-India / region.
- Set EHS objectives, KPIs and targets for project sites and monitor performance against them.
- Lead a team of site/regional EHS officers and engineers; build EHS capability across the project delivery organization.
- Own EHS budgeting, resourcing and planning across all live and upcoming projects.
- Ensure all project sites obtain, maintain and comply with statutory EHS permits, licenses, consents and documentation.
- Drive incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action closure for all EHS incidents.
- Conduct and oversee internal EHS audits and inspections across project sites; manage external/client/regulatory audits.
- Partner with Project Directors, PMs and client stakeholders to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure EHS is integrated into project planning and execution.
- Design, implement and continuously improve site-specific EHS programs, SOPs and risk assessments
- (JSA) in line with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs, toolbox talks and behavior-based safety initiatives across project teams and contractors.
- Track industry regulations, codes and best practices; ensure timely compliance updates across the organization.
- Report EHS performance, trends and improvement plans to senior leadership on a regular basis.
- Manage relationships with regulators, statutory bodies and third-party EHS consultants.
Qaulifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Fire & Safety) or related field; Advanced Diploma in Industrial/Fire & Safety.
- NEBOSH Diploma (NDIP) /NEBOSH IGC / IOSH / equivalent international EHS certification mandatory.
- Additional certification in Construction Safety Management or Lead Auditor (ISO 45001/14001) preferred.
- Diploma in Industrial Safety (from a recognized State Board of Technical Education/RLI) mandatory under the Factories Act for Safety Officer designation
Work Experience:
10–15 years of progressive EHS experience in construction, interior fit-out, or real estate project environments, including at least 3–4 years in a leadership role managing EHS across multiple project sites.
Skills
- Excellent English verbal and written communication and stakeholder presentation skills.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-site, multi-city EHS teams.
- Sound knowledge of statutory EHS regulations applicable to construction and interior fit-out projects.
- Strong analytical and incident investigation capability.
- Ability to influence senior project and client stakeholders on safety culture and compliance.
- High proficiency in EHS management systems, audit tools and reporting.
