In 2023, the Indian real estate sector attracted institutional investments amounting to USD 4.3 Bn, registering a decline of 12% over the previous year. The first half of 2023 witnessed robust investments, accounting for 57% of the total investments received in 2022. Later, investments slowed down in the second half of 2023 amid prevailing global macroeconomic uncertainty, amounting to USD 1.5 Bn only.
Moreover, domestic investments significantly increased by 120% over the previous year, totaling USD 1.5 Bn. On the other hand, the share of foreign investors declined from 79% in 2022 to 65% in 2023, primarily due to global macroeconomic challenges. However, rapid expansion in the real estate sector coupled with diverse investment opportunities positions India as an attractive investment hotspot for both domestic and foreign investors.
